Breville Ikon Multi-Speed Juice Fountain is 900 watts. It has a 5 speed high speed motor that features a built-in electronic smart chip that increases power to the cutting disc under heavy loads. As a result, the filter extracts more juice and can make an 8 ounce glass in just 5 seconds. The 3" feed tube allows for the easy and efficient processing of whole fruits and vegetables, without pre-cutting, slicing or peeling. It is uniquely positioned directly over the center of the cutting disc for better balance and consistent results. The 5 speed settings make the Ikon Juice Fountain the most versatile juice extractor available. The lower speeds are for softer fruits and leafy green vegetables. The higher speeds maximize extraction from dense foods such as apples and carrots.

Love This Juicer

I have never owned a juicer before; but I am certain I started with the best one. My husband got me this juicer for my birthday and we absolutely love it! It's easy to use and clean and runs MUCH quieter than I would have expected (it makes noise but nothing ear piercing). The juice is really tasty and we have been taking in A LOT more fruits and veggies since we got this thing.

It's amazing the stuff this machine can take! We bought a beet that was incredibly hard to slice with our sharp knives and the juicer took it with no problem.

LOVE IT!

I love this juicer! It is well made, and powerful enough to juice most anything.
The Breville juices quickly and cleanup is very easy, except for the the grinder/strainer basket.
It is hard to get the screen clean from the pulp. Although, I am sure most juicers screens are hard to clean as well. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

Wonderful Product

I never thought I would do any juicing but now that I have this I love it. I did a lot of research online before I made the decision to buy this unit. From others reviews and now from my own experience I can say without reservations this is the unit to buy. Take your time with some of the harder vegetables and let the juicer do the work. Unit is easy to clean and with a little practice it will only take 5 minutes to clean and put away. Well worth the time for better health.

Works well, not too noisy

I've used the new Breville juicer every day since the first day it arrived. I like to juice pretty much everything, including hard veggies like carrots and beets. It handles it all really well. The only issue I've come across that I could complain about "which isn't really a big issue" is that sometimes if you put too many large veggies in before pressing them down the chute they will jam.

Part of the design is to put a thin triangular piece of metal just above the spinning disk - most likely so when you plop a whole apple in it has something to stop the initial downward force. You'll notice when you juice a small apple, you have to press down to get that little piece of metal to penetrate the apple. Then it will grind on the disk after that point. It makes sense, but this seems to cause the jamming. At the same time it protects the disk.

So what I learned is you just have to go a little slower than you'd want sometimes. Cut your apples in quarters if they are large - and cut beets in half. Beets are too hard to get passed the triangular wedge. If you get the gigantic juicing carrots from your health food store, it helps to cut them in half length-wise as well. Otherwise if you put in two of them - the large ends of the carrot will get stuck.

Ok that said, those are not really problems. Those are the hardest veggies for any juicer to juice. So there is some cutting - but otherwise even large carrots juice extremely fast.

As for baby spinach, it will juice that, but no juicer except hand crank wheat grass juicers or others that use compression will not to a great job on very soft leafy veggies. I like to cut iceburg lettuce in 1/4's and that gets a ton of juice. The lettuce that has long leaves - you can snap the bottom part to create two halves. Then squeeze it in and press it down with the base facing up for the most juice.

Cucumbers juice amazingly fast and you get a ton of juice. Oranges also juice well, but it will be fairly frothy. So you may want to do it by hand.

Cleanup takes more time than the act of juicing. It's not too difficult, just make sure to use some warm water and the included brush. The worst offenders are the hard veggies like the carrots. It tends to clog the stainless mesh disk at the bottom. Over time and several washings it will clear up.

You can place plastic bags in the bin on the side, but I found if you use the thin bags that they offer to put your veggies in - the disk will try to suck it in. A typical wal-mart grocery bag which is a thicker plastic doesn't have the same problem.

Would I recommend this juicer? I would say yes. This is the quietest juicer I've tried so far and does a good job. After day-in-day-out use, it still works well for us.

Love, love, love it
